Tulsa Musicians | Tiffany Howig | “Unthinkable” Cover

One of the local Tulsa musicians, Tiffany Howig, has just released a new cover of “Unthinkable” by Alicia Keys – and it is breathtaking.

In preparation for recording Howig joked about how challenging it is to cover a voice such as Alicia Keys – and she’s exactly right. With incredible runs, high range belts, and a pure voice, Alicia Keys remains to be one of the hardest artists to cover.

Many musicians cover Alicia Keys because of a popular discography of songs to choose from like “If I Ain’t Got You,” “Fallin’,” or “No One.” Howig elected to go with one of her less popular songs titled “Unthinkable” that has a smooth, vibing feel to it that makes it an incredible choice to cover. It became even more poplar when Drake contributed a rap verse to Alicia Keys’ version on the beginning of the song in an unofficial remix.

As one of the many Tulsa musicians looking to build a career, Howig has focused primarily on covering popular songs that showcase her talents and improving her songwriting for original music as well. This simultaneous blend has allowed her to create unique arrangements of familiar tracks like “So Into You” by Tamia, “Lay it All On Me” by Rudimental, and “Holy Grail” by Jay Z and Justin Timberlake.

For Howig’s version of “Unthinkable,” she chose to record the track and shoot the video in Madness Media’s second studio for a more intimate feel. With a simple piano backing track, Howig’s vocals that showcase her range really shine. To see the full video, check out below:

Currently, Howig is living in Madrid, Spain, on an extended retreat to explore her songwriting more and make connections to build her portfolio. She is planning to release her original music as early as this summer.
